Police have apprehended Rachael Olufogbe, a 300-level student at Federal University, Oye Ekiti (FUOYE), for allegedly injuring another student with a razor blade during a heated argument. The incident occurred at a private hostel in Oye Egbo, located outside the school premises on Saturday, June 22, 2024.
According to reports, the altercation began over the arrangement of a drying line in the hostel. The victim relocated Olufogbe’s clothes to make space before hanging her own, which sparked disagreement between the two students.
The situation escalated, prompting Olufogbe to reportedly use a razor blade to harm the victim. Confirming the incident, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sunday Fashina stated that the altercation occurred off-campus, adding that the university does not tolerate such behavior within its premises.
“The suspect is currently in police custody, and we await the outcome of their investigation,” Prof. Fashina stated.
